The President of the Air Safety Foundation (FaSA20), Pilar Vera, participated in the Global Aviation Gender Summit 2026 (GAGS 2026), which was held from 21 to 23 July in Luanda (Angola). This event, organised by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), focused on promoting women’s leadership and involvement in the aviation industry.
During her speech, Pilar Vera emphasised that aviation safety cannot be understood solely from a technical or regulatory perspective. Behind each and every improvement in safety measures, there are real people with their stories and lessons to share, which must never be overlooked.
Her message emphasised a culture of prevention, support for victims and their families, and the pivotal role of individuals in the aviation sector.
The Chairwoman of FaSA20 also highlighted the contribution of women to the progress of aviation, noting that female leadership brings talent, commitment, perseverance and the capacity for transformation to a sector that is essential to society.
